Hi I am rewriting my existing web site. www.randallfamilyhistory.com. New one is Responsive
Everything including links are fine, except when I try to use http://css-tricks.com and any other variation of that site URL.( I had put 4 different links taken from web browser None work in Tools)
The message comes up HTML-Kit-Tools has stopped working. Microsoft windows is trying to find a solution.
No answer. I can load any variation of the site direct into any browser and it loads fine.
    Any ideas Version used 20141101

      Hi Brianran,

Thank you for reporting this. So the css-tricks site probably has some
code that's breaking the default WebKit preview engine in HTML-Kit
      Tools
. I have a few different solutions that you can use right now:

      • Use F8 preview when you need to test css-tricks links

      • Use Extended Preview (monitor icon on far side of the menu bar)

      • Switch F12 internal preview to IE-based engine by setting "Edit >
Preferences > Files > Preview > Primary internal browser mode" to "IE
        compatible."

      Hope this helps.

Thank you it works using F8 and after some difficulty it worked on Firefox extended preview only using F12
Still will not work on normal pressing of preview.
I assume that if I test with the above, It will work ok when loaded into web site.

Yes, it should work fine on the website.

Internal preview tab (F12) should work as well if it's switched to IE
mode in preferences, but I wouldn't mess with that since pressing F8 is
easier at least for this purpose.

            Just to follow up
F8, Multiple browses (only Firefox not sure how to invoke others) are OK
Preview button and active preview button loads page OK but causes Tools to stop and closes if we open CSS Tricks.
I needed to look at other HTML Editors for my web page on Authoring Web Sites.
I saw Coffeecup and loaded their FREE??? program and discovered that it found CSS tricks without any problem. BUT it would not display the page correctly in testing in preview and browsers.(Dropping sections down)
Everything was OK though if I loaded file into each browser direct( Correct layout and CSS Tricks loaded in all)
            Strange, any thoughts.
Any way your HTML-Kit Tools is the recommended editor. The only problem I believe is the fuller documentation of the facilities, for beginners.

Other browsers installed on the system should, in general, appear on
"View > Preview in browser." If you've installed a browser and it's not
appearing there (may need to reopen Tools), please let me know through
"Help > Feedback" menu or on a new forum thread.

Preview button and active preview button loads page OK but causes
Tools to stop and closes if we open CSS Tricks.

If being able to preview CSS Tricks site inside Tools is a must (if
doing this through F8 doesn't cut it), this is what you could do:

              • Open "Edit > Preferences" and click "Files" at the top

              • Scroll down to the "Preview" section

              • Set "Primary browser mode for internal preview" to "Internet Explorer"

              • Click "Save" and reopen Tools

CSS Tricks site should now open inside Tools.

I needed to look at other HTML Editors for my web page on Authoring

              thoughts.

A site like CSS Tricks is likely to have code that invokes edge features
which affects various browser types/versions differently. In the case of
Tools, the particular version of WebKit used for preview is not handling
this rare case. This will get fixed when Tools updates the default
preview engine but you can also work around this by switching to
IE-based preview as I described above.

Any way your HTML-Kit Tools is the recommended editor. The only
problem I believe is the fuller documentation of the facilities, for
              beginners.

I agree with you. You know, I'm a coder so adding features to Tools is
my preferred mode of operation but this time around I've spent a lot of
Dev Marathon time in improving documentation. As things settle down
after the holidays you'll start to see fruits of this.
