Tidy in Tools

I am a long time user of HK292 and just installed Tools. In build 292 I had configured Tidy to work like I wanted it, the configuration menu in there is quite handy.

In Tools there is no similar configuration pane, rather one that requires you to know a lot about how Tidy works. I decided to try and export my Tidy configuration from build 292 and it produced a file with an .htc extension. But when I try and import this into Tools it complains it is not a correct format configuration file - and indeed it is rather different from a similar one exported from Tools, not having all the #@ lines.

Is there any way of exporting a compatible configuration file from build 292 or do I have to do it all the hard way?

    Thanks
    Dave

      Hi Dave,

One of the differences between 292 and Tools, as I'm sure you've
noticed, is the ability to maintain multiple sets of plugins and
settings. So what I'd do in this case is create a new Tidy config in
HTML-Kit Tools using the "Tools > Tidy > Edit and manage Tidy
configurations" menu option. Click "New" button in "Tidy Configuration
Manager" window and enter a name in "Title" field. Click OK to create a
basic config and click OK again to close the manager window. Now select
the config you've just created from the "Tools > Tidy" menu (pressing F9
or clicking the Tidy tab will invoke this Tidy configuration from now on).

Tidy in Tools is a more recent version and some of the defaults may not
match what you had in 292. Because of this I wouldn't recommend bringing
over every Tidy setting from 292. I'd first look at Tidy's output in
Tools. It's optimized for most use cases out of the box. If you still
need to change something, you can go back to the Tidy Configuration
Manager and add or change only the setting you need. For a list of
      settings and values, please see:

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Chami. I have sort of sorted it out by generating a new configuration file from the default one and editing in all the settings from my build 292 one. It seems to work and do what I want, though I must go back and check it again. I particularly wanted the ones to reformat it in nice paragraphs with a longer line length of 96 instead of the rather shorter default ones in tools. But you are right, a lot of the settings I now have are probably unnecessary. Still very much on a learning curve...
