Testing pages for various screen resolutions

      Hi Chami,
I'm writing here beacuse my question is about "internal preview". I'm sorry but it seems that Internal Preview is useful only for very simple pages in pure html code... if I have a php page how can I preview it?

In addition, I'm now usually used to edit my files directly on the ftp server thanks to the useful and simple remote navigation tree... Is there a way to test those remote webpages?

      Thank you.

        Hi Luca,

You can solve this by setting the "Base URL for Preview" field: right
click the FTP folder in your project window and select "Edit folder
settings > Edit." Change to the "Preview" tab and there you'll see a
field for constructing the preview URL.

In some cases though, the root directory of the FTP server may not be
the root directory of web files. If your web files are in /public_html/
folder, for example, you can tell HTML-Kit Tools to start there by
setting "Initial Path" on the "Advanced" tab.

Let me know if this doesn't work for you.

          Hi chami,
Finally I have enough time to test this issue:
I tried your solution but is not like as I hope..... :-(

          I'm in this situation:
          * I have a main domain such as "www.mydomain.com"
          * Under it I created a sub-folder to develop my new website, we call it "website_1"

So to view this site in a browser I have to enter the following url: "www.mydomain.com/website_1" and this is the url that I wrote in "Base URL for preview" in html-kit.

My website is written in CodeIgniter framework, so there is a very nested folders structure with controllers, views, etc... and as you imagined my files are in "public_html" folder. For this reason, I set up the Initial Path in Advaced panel in the following way, in order to view only editable files of "website_1":
          "domains/mydomain.com/public_html/website_1/application"

With this configuration.... preview does not run because Kit shows me the following error:
"The requested URL /website_1/domains/mydomain.com/public_html/website_1/application/views/pages/gallery/view_gallery.php was not found on this server".

Can you suggest me a way to solve it?

          Thank you.

            Hi Luca,

It should work... just a matter of figuring out the correct path to URL
            mapping.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with CodeIgniter framework enough to see how
the paths and URLs you've shown should look like.

What you might try is adding a plain/static website folder and then
setting up preview URL for it. It might be easier to get that set up and
then expand it to cover CodeIgniter-style paths.
