Some tiny things about HK Tools

Re workflow, a couple of things come up for me that I wish I could bat away. I present these simply because I use Tools every day, almost all the time, and I'd like to use it even more!

    1. When All Files in a Folder and its Subfolders is used, the file browser doesn't open the standard Windows explorer window but some cut down version that has all the folders in a long, single list - unlike the full featured window that opens with the first open, to upload selected files in a single folder... Whoever in Microsoft thought this was a good idea should be shot, as I am sure it's not a Tools function. I've seen this particular single branch tree in the side columns of Explorer... and its useless.

    2. Multi-threading of tasks? When I start that file upload, I have to wait for Tools to complete before I can do anything with it. My old process of uploading files separately using an FTP client still seems better when I am uploading more than a few files, as it is a bit of a pain to have Tools locked down while it's doing the upload. Note: saving files opened by FTP is not what I am referring to specifically here, just the upload via the Projects tab via the big green + symbol.

Hmm... I'm not sure if I should be enabling this behavior :)

I see what you mean. The full open dialog should come up on Vista/7/8
but XP shows the old-style folder tree.

When you have a lot of images and resources to upload I'd agree with you
that it's probably better to let that run separately in a dedicated FTP
client. Although it'd be nice to have multi-threaded FTP uploading
built-in, it'd take some time to implement and I'm not sure if very many
would use it instead of a full-blown FTP client anyway.

Sorry about the not-so-satisfactory answers on this one.

I'm actually on a Windows 7 system - not sure why then I'm getting a cut down file browser on the multiple files upload option.

And yes, I can imagine multi-threaded FTP is not really something that would be worth chasing, so happy to recognise that Tools has its scope and I shouldn't expect it to make fresh pasta for me. A nice strong coffee.

I guess just allowing us to return to the open files and continue to work open open files while FTP files are uploading is part of the same parcel, so I'll just get with the program.

Do you have a screenshot? Just to make sure that I'm on the same page.

In most cases, HTML, CSS, scripts and other text files would upload in
seconds. In my mind it's images and other binary files that would take
time to upload so at that point might as well use an external FTP client
          to upload them.

OK - tracked down the file browser thing, when I got a spare moment at 5am - just an option in Preferences set to not use Windows 7 style file browser. Must have been some hangover from Windows XP settings, as I have been using Tools since basically you first popped it out the door, years now.

Some good detective work there! I had forgotten about that option. Glad
you're now able to access the new dialogs.
