so far overwhelming but i understand most of it. Profiles in the kit menu doesn't mean anything to me though, and is not explained in the guide. I don't understand what it is for. can someone enlighten me?

      Hi Lise,

If you were a superhero :) you could use profiles to maintain two
identities. "Superman" profile and "Clark Kent" profile can be used to
maintain completely separate projects, color themes, preferences and so
on inside a single installation of HTML-Kit Tools. Changes in "Superman"
profile won't affect or appear in "Clark Kent" profile.

This feature may come in handy if you work at a web development firm and
also do freelance work rest of the time. For example, a firm may require
that only scripts, images and other resources developed in-house are
used in projects. On the other hand, you may have a different selection
of licensed resources to choose from when you're doing freelance work.

Profiles are there when it makes sense to have completely separate
      coding environments.

In HTML-Kit Tools, you can customize the configuration to specific needs
and save the customizations as "profiles." These profiles can then be
opened with your customizations. I guess the easiest way to explain it
      is to use an example.

I have a CD review web site on which I create a lot of pages in the same
format and therefore repetitive to code. To make that work easier and
faster, I have created a "profile" that contains custom plugins that add
complex tags to highlighted text, customized "Caret Actions,"
customized actions for the "Selection to unordered list" that wraps the
text in not only UL tags, but breaks it into 2 columns and wraps the
text in the appropriate Table tags and adds a header above the table.
Also, I also have only the templates that I use for this specific
project saved in this profile. Additionally, the profile is set to
reopen files that were left open when I last closed the program, so it
always opens a couple of pages that need to be updated when I post new
CD reviews, and the profile defaults the the folder in which I want to
save the reviews, since I only use it in one folder. There are a number
of other customization that don't come to mind right now.

I have also created a desktop icon with a custom icon that opens Tools
in that specific profile. When I want to post new CD reviews, I simply
open the customized profile and have everything I need to do that
specific job at my fingertips without sorting through a lot of
customizations that seldom get used (but that are none-the-less
occasionally useful in other projects) for the CD reviews.

I hope that description is helpful. I actually have a number of
"profiles" for different projects, each with its own icon that can be
opened directly from the desktop for specific projects.

I hope that gives you, at least, an idea of the "profiles" concept.

OK. I understand how useful that could be, but not something to worry about now while I'm learning the program. Thank you very much for those great answers.
