    Hi
    New here, just purchased yesterday.

When editing my source code which contains:
    <a href="eula.htm">© 2009 W. Dwyne</a> * <a href="sitemap.htm">Site Map</a>

then clicking on "Beautify HTML" changes the above line to
    <a href="eula.htm">© 2009 W. Dwyne</a> * <a href="sitemap.htm">Site Map</a>
/\ note the control character that has been added
then clicking on "TIDY" changes the line to
    <a href="eula.htm">ý?© 2009 W. Dwyne</a> * <a href="sitemap.htm">Site Map</a>
    /\ note the added char
click back to edit and program reports "HTML Tidy: replacing invalid UTF-8 bytes (char. code U+0003)

    Source contains "<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />" and HTML-Kit shows iso-8859-1 in red on bottom left

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

    Thanks Bill D.

There might be a better way to do it, but to generate a copyright symbol
I would use "©" (no quotes).

On the Action Bar channel 3 (bottom unlabeled rectangle on the right end
of the action bar) there is a nice menu for inserting character entities.

In http://www.html-kit.com/docs/tools/tidy/cf are all options to configure your own beautify and tidy, but I think in this case there is no choice but to manually change this character for
        ampersand copy semicolon.

Hi - I'm the Original Poster
I'll repeat a bit of the original post:

When editing my source code which contains:
            <a href="eula.htm">© 2009 W. Dwyne</a> * <a href="sitemap.htm">Site Map</a>

then clicking on "Beautify HTML" changes the above line to
            <a href="eula.htm">© 2009 W. Dwyne</a> * <a href="sitemap.htm">Site Map</a>
................................/\ note the control character that has been added
then clicking on "TIDY" changes the line to
            <a href="eula.htm">ý?© 2009 W. Dwyne</a> * <a href="sitemap.htm">Site Map</a>
            ................................/\ note the added char

I have managed to solve my problem with "Beautify HTML" by:
            1st - - not using it
2nd - - using my own(modified) Convert to XHTML tidy configuration.

I would appreciate any information on changing the built in "Beautify HTML" config or even better replacing "Beatify HTML | Minify HTML | (on the bottom taskbar) with my own tidy scripts.

            Thanks Bill D.
