HTML-Kit 300 Installation in Windows 2003, Menus, and View as you edit

I work for a major transportation agency and I am looking for a good HTML editor to recoomend and see if we can buy it.
I downloaded and installed the HTML-Kit Trial in Windows server 2003, but as soon as I run it it comes up with an error message like "a file or assebly cef.Sharp 0.12....." could not be loaded or something like this. These is no option to copy and paste the message.
Can anyone suggest how to resolve this for windows 2003 (maybe it is not necessarily a windows 2003 issue, but I may be missing somthing the program assumes it is already installed)?

I also installed it in an XP machine (not its final location though), just to try and I installed Ok, but I am a little bit puzzled by the GUI difference with the 292 bersion. It seems to me that the 292 version had many more options, via its menu than the 300. Or is it that the trial version does not enable all the menu items.

Also I am trying to find the functionality whereby you can view your web page as you edit the html, but I noticed that the lower pane, where the view is, is not in synch with the positoin of your cursor in the html code. I may be 75% down the code, but the view only shows that top.. So you cannot see what is being changed right away. Is this normal bahavior?

    Thanks for your feedback.

The setup has everything required to get the program up and running as
it did on your XP machine below. But as you know, Windows 2003 is a
server so it may have additional restrictions if you're not installing
as the admin. I'd run the setup again after making sure that the server
      isn't blocking parts of it.

I also installed it in an XP machine (not its final location though),
just to try and I installed Ok, but I am a little bit puzzled by the

HTML-Kit Tools is a complete rewrite, not just an update to HTML-Kit
      292
. They have different UIs and some differences in the workflow, so I
recommend trying out Tools before registering specially if you're coming
      from 292.

As for features, I wouldn't necessarily judge it by the number of menu
options :) Tools definitely has more features than 292 and it supports
modern web technologies. They're organized differently. 292 showed all
plugin buttons and menu options all the time, whereas Tools doesn't show
certain actions until they become applicable.

Also I am trying to find the functionality whereby you can view your
web page as you edit the html, but I noticed that the lower pane,
where the view is, is not in synch with the positoin of your cursor
in the html code. I may be 75% down the code, but the view only shows

There are several ways to preview as you type in HTML-Kit Tools:

      • Active Preview landscape mode (Ctrl+F12) -- if you move the preview to
where you want it'll stay there as you edit (until you edit something
that requires resetting the page layout).

      • Active Preview classic mode ("View > Preview" menu) -- this works best
        with multi-monitor setups.

      • Extended Preview (monitor icon on top menu bar) -- this allows you to
keep one or more browsers, other computers and even phones/tablets
        auto-update as you edit.

Hope this helps. Feel free to post again if you have any other questions.

        Chami,
Thanks for your quick response.. WIth respect to the installation error on windows server 2003.. The message seems to be related to something missing in my system that c# might need (?)
The XP is my home PC.. This is not where the html editing will be done... so I just want to make sure I will be able to install in that environment.. I am using an Admin account.. What does the 300 version need in terms of MS software, is it c# in a .net environment ? Does .net come with the install package?
        Thanks again
        Charlie

          Hi Charlie,

HTML-Kit Tools supports running on desktop/client versions of Windows
XP, Vista, 7 and 8/8.1. I don't test it on server versions of Windows,
partly because severs aren't meant for running desktop software but also
because it's cost prohibitive for me to test on servers.

So Windows 2003 Server isn't supported. Even if you register please keep
in mind that I won't be able to test it on 2003 if something doesn't
work for you. If you still want to try running it on 2003 though, you
might try installing .NET Framework 2.0 and 4.0 client editions (the
          order doesn't matter).

            Chami,
You actually had the same problem in XP about a year ago:

            "Cefsharp version=0.12.4576.27597.Cuture=neutral.PublicKeyToken=null Cannot find
            specified file

I think it was chuck?... in any case I am not sure how it was resolved.. they talked about TH (?) and firewall..

I did some search and found that you are using the Cefsharp library... and I found two files in the plugin folder... if the cefsharp files I got with the download are not the 0.12.... version and the code is referencing that verions... isnt it what the problem is? Why would the program not be able to load the cefsharp library if it is there?
Is the trial install missing anything.. like setting up env variables or something like that? any ideas?
            Thanks
            Charlie

Chami.. Is the Trial version an old version or is it current.. as of when?

                Hi Charlie,

If you go to "Help > About" menu option it'll show the build of the
                trial you have.

Instead of trying to answer and correct this information may I kindly
refer you back to my last reply? Windows 2003 Server is not supported,
but if you want to try it anyway then installing those client frameworks
might be the best bet (again, not supported or recommended).

Got it... I will remove it from our list of options at this time, perhaps in the future we'll reconsider for other platforms.

                Thanks for your responses.
