How to save workspace window position on a separate monitor.

Long time user of the Kit, now I am evaluating "The Tools"

    One question:

With the kit, I could pin the workspace window on a separate monitor and its position was saved.

With the Tools, upon restart, the Workspace (Projects) window is back onto the main monitor.

I've tried the "Layouts" feature, but this won't save the window positions.

I can drag the workspace window on a separate monitor but how do I make it stay that way so it's there next time I start the Tools?

Thanks for using 292 and giving Tools a try!

You're right, it docks the project window to the main window when you
restart. Like you've said, you could drag it back to the other monitor.
Also note that Tools supports auto hiding, so even if you keep it on the
main monitor you could save screen space by letting it hide when not in use.

        Understood.

I am finding that upon startup I need to manually File/Layouts/{Click on custom layout}. I pretty much have all my settings in that layout, except the window position.

At least, is there a way to set a custom layout as the default layout so that it loads automatically upon startup, so that I don't have to manually go through File/Layouts every time?

        Much appreciating your quick responses.

          Hi Al,

I can look into adding this but may I ask how you're using layouts that
requires this? If you set "Edit > Preferences > General > Reopen
windows," it'll reopen most utility windows without having to apply a
          layout.

The currently selected tab in the Projects Window is not "remembered"; always reverts to the "Start "tab".

Yes, I am only a click away from selecting my preferred tab that contains all my projects (as per my import from 262), but this information IS stored in Layouts.

Ideally, one wants to just start the program to find everything EXACTLY as per the preset window arrangement. It's a matter of workflow. Adobe programs (i.e. Photoshop) offer a brilliant implementation of this methodology.

I work with 4 monitors, so you can imagine how useful this is. When I start HTML-Kit I already have other programs running, in their own Windows. Had the Tools remembered exactly where I wanted its windows, things would be much better, with an already incredible software :)

            Thank you!

Since you're mostly wanting to have the project window in focus on
startup, turning off "Edit > Preferences > General > Show Start Window"
might be the easier solution. Layouts can be a heavy hammer for this
sort of thing but I do agree that remembering the last focused tab would
              be useful!

Tools will at least remember the monitor you put it on and restart on
it. I'm jealous of your monitor setup by the way :)

                Much appreciating your response.

Turning off "Edit > Preferences > General > Show Start Window" forces the system to "remember" the selected tab within the Projects ("Workspace") window BUT no matter what I tried I just cannot force the system to "remember" the position of this window onto a specific monitor. Upon startup, this window is always pinned on the same monitor within the rest of the program.

I must always drag it out of there.

                Thank you.

This is true. I've noted this as a feature request but as I have a full
plate at the moment I can't guarantee if or when it'll be implemented
until there's time to take a closer look. Please don't register Tools if
this is a must have for you.
