Bug in latest Treehouse

    Chami,
Was quite excited about the repeat last action key and downloaded the Treehouse Build that was in User Assistant this morning (6/12 at around 9:25 PST)...sorry, but don't remember the number at the moment.

Did the install and then changed the theme to Dark, which I've always preferred.
Opened a document and the background of the document was nearing black in color, rather than the white color I've always used.
Tried to make changes in Preferences and selected #fffff wherever possible, but it made no change.
Tried to switch back to default theme and the editor background stayed dark.

The only thing I noticed is that when the document was loading, the background started white then turned dark (sort of like the old Ajax scrouring powder..."shakes out white, turns blue!").

Re-installed the previous Treehouse Build I had on hand (20130205) with no change, even using the default theme.

Only workaround I've been able to find was to go into Program Files-->HTML-kit-->Tools-->bin
and delete the config.hsf file, which according to the time and date stamp was changed when I did the install of the new build.

Opened up Tools and the default theme was being used and the editor background was white, but...and you knew this was coming...when I tried to change the theme, it went again to the dark color and deleting the config.hsf file and keeping the default theme (at least for now) the only way to work around the background problem.

All of this is on the XP SP3 machine.

    Got any ideas??

I really look forward to the repeat key, too.

    Thanks,
    boB

      Hey boB,

I haven't changed the default theme in this TreeHouse build or any since
the last general release as far as I can remember. The config file gets
updated each time Tools is run because it's storing window position,
open files, etc., so it's normal to see the timestamp change. I'd try
"Kit > User interface theme > Light color theme" to reset UI and
      document theme to the default.

        Chami,
        Thanks for the quick reply.
I am at a loss as to why this problem occurred. I've updated Tools for a couple of years now with no problem until this morning and have never had to do a fresh install. I've also used the Dark theme for all that time with no change in the editor window.

I did take your advice and use the Light color theme and this restored the editor window to it's white background (whew).

The problem is that now I'm left with the rather painful blue coloring outside of the editor window.
Is there a way to edit the dark theme, so I have the dark borders around the editor window, but the editor window itself is white with black and colored text?
It works better for my aging eyeballs...LOL!

        Thanks again,
        boB

Cool! I'm glad it's back to normal somehow :)

What you could do is switch to dark color theme ("Kit > User interface
theme > Dark color theme") and then change colorizer to light color
theme ("View > Code Colorizer > Styles > Default light color theme").

          Hope this helps.

            Chami,
Geez...that was easy...you'd think you had created the program or something...LOL!

Sorry I didn't know how to fix the problem.

I did encounter another small problem in putting everything back together after deleting the config file.

It appears that the default preview engine for Tools is Webkit, while I've always used IE, so I can see how bad IE is going to mangle my code before I test it in FF.
Finally found the switch to change this and that now works, but it brought up another idea:
Is there a way we could have a switch for the Preview window where it would be possible to switch between IE and Mozilla or whatever?
I know that it is possible to do a simultaneous preview, but that is windowed and oftimes throws the layout off.

I'm off to install the repeat key version of Treehouse...I'll let you know how that works.

            Thanks,
            boB

              Chami,
Just installed the current Treehouse and, once the fix you described above was used, all is well.

              Thanks for your help.

Embedding multiple preview engines is problematic (download size,
browser update cycles, varying API support, etc.), but you can preview
in any browser/computer/tablet/phone while you edit using Extended
Preview feature in Tools. It's the monitor icon on the top right hand
side of the main menu next to the image picker.
